A Poem about my Dad
All About my Dad.
My Dad is part of my heart.
He is sweet, kind and smart.
He knows what’s right and wrong.
He never makes his explanations too long.
He really cares,
We are both like apples and pears
He makes everything easy everywhere, I am his sweet cuddle bear.Sunday, August 23, 2020

My Book Review on When the Wind Changed By Helina
Write a review on this story.
How the wind changed is about a boy named Josh who loved making awful faces. The characters in this story are his Mum, Dad, Grandma, his next door neighbours dog, the postman, and the robber. The setting in this story was his home. One day he found out how good he was at making faces because of the dog next door. The dog did not like Josh. Josh made an ordinary scary face at the dog and scared the dog. Josh was surprised when he frightened the dog so he went to his Grandma to show her how pleased he was at the dog-scaring-face he made. Grandma reacted with a screech. She batted him over the head with her newspaper. Everyday he practised trying to make an awful face. He then tried it on the Postman, his Mum and his Dad. His dad told Josh if you're going to make a face and the wind changes it will stay that way. One day Josh made the most hideous face of all, but then the wind changed and no matter how hard he tried to squash it back into shape, it just stayed the way it was. Josh was so thoughtful he decided to cover his face so he couldn't scare people. Then he reached the bank, and there was a robbery. Josh took his red hanky and scared the robber and made him drop his gun. Just then the wind changed and Josh was back to an ordinary boy. I rate this book a 4 out of 5 because I enjoyed the book. I didn't like the scary faces that Josh made. My favourite part in the story was the ending when he saved the bank. Josh and his Dad became heroes. I recommend this book to anyone because it is interesting, funny, scary and weird. I have never read a book like this before, that's why I like it.

My Tivaevae Mat By Ching
This is my Tivaevae Mat.
I used two different coloured sheets of paper, a pencil and some scissors.
I am pleased with my Tivaevae Mat because it show reflection, symmetry, and rotation.
I found this task easy because I have done something like this before.
I made my Tivaevae mat by drawing shapes and cutting them out.

My Tivaevae Mat By Ayla
This is my Tivaevae Mat.
I used two coloured papers, scissors, pencil or pen, glue and a craft knife
I am not pleased with my Tivaevae Mat because it doesn't look very neat
I found this task difficult because I had to cut really small designs.
I made my Tivaevae mat by
Folding the paper diagonally
Cutting out the extra paper
Folding the square paper into quarters or eighths
Drawing a design on your paper
Using a craft knife to help me cut out the smaller designs in the middle
Unfolding the paper with your design on it
Getting out the second coloured paper. Gluing the paper with my pattern onto it. Then trimming any excess paper.
Here is the finished result

Tivaevae Mats - Cook Island Language Week
This week it is Cook Islands Language Week. As a fun Maths task we created our own Tivaevae Mats. We had to make a square then fold into into quarters or eighths. Then we drew Pasifika patterns. Miss Paton used her craft knife to help cut the middle of our patterns.
Next week she will join all the mats together and to make one big mat.
