Karla's Coding Experience

Woah, I have been here before. It’s the exclusive hotel-The Cordis. Today was when I had reunited with a new coding experience. I have coded before but I never knew how to do it or what to do. Yesterday was the day that I learnt how to code. We got to code on a program called “ Scratch ”. If you don't know what it is, it is a programming application where you can make your own game with code. We went to code our own game called “Ghost busters”. As we were working on our game, there were people going around and asking questions about our game. These people hadn't coded or nor had any experience before. I had a really fun day. The place was so luxurious. In the bathroom there were lights that were as bright as the sunlight. The hand soap smell filled the room with essential oils. They gave us free water. At the end we received certificates. When we were coming back from the exclusive hotel, we went on the bus and sang our hearts out. I was very glad that I went and I would like to go back soon in the future to do more coding.

Our Photo Woven Portraits

Here are our beautiful woven photographs of ourselves. This Maths and Art task involved the students to make accurate measurements and to follow a pattern of going over and under. It was a wonderful task and it promoted lots of discussion around vocabulary and reflection.

Ferah's Woven Art Reflection

This is Ferah's Woven Art Portrait. She has done an
amazing job on her portrait and has reflected well
on the process she went through to make her artwork.

Woven Photo Portrait

  1. What did you accomplish?
I accomplished making a woven portrait of myself  following a chequerboard pattern.

  1. Are you satisfied with your woven photo portrait? Why / Why not?
Yes I am satisfied with my large woven portrait because each square is equal and
symmetrical in size.

  1. What did you find easy when you created your woven photo portrait?
I found it easy to place the pieces down as it was a large piece of paper. However my
small portrait was not so easy.

  1. What did you find challenging when you were weaving your woven photo portrait?
I found it challenging to make my face features symmetrical.

  1. What do you need to work on?
I need to work on taking my time and being patient with my work.

  1. What would you adjust with your woven photo portrait?
I would take my time and try to be more precise because I was rushing.

7. What would you do next time to improve your self portrait?
I would improve on my technique.

This is AJ's All About Me Poster. She did this in Google Drawings. It was a great lesson to learn about the tools that are used in Google Drawing.

She was previously the administrator for the blog "Creative Voice" and this blog ran for 7 years. Our blog "Celebrating Voice" show cases our learning that we do in the curriculum areas. Voice plays an integral part to our learning and we thought it was important to highlight this in our blog name. We look forward to sharing our learning with you. Feel free to make a comment on this blog or on the students blogs. The student blogs are at the side. Just click on the links.
