My Nana's Journey Story By Melianna

Lily's Journey

Lily was born in Apia, Samoa. However she is not yet a New Zealand
citizen. She had arrived here in New Zealand 1969 for a better life.
She did have family here, she had a brother that paid for her flight to
come here. My nana came by plane but she did not stop at any
countries.

Usually, sometimes they would stop at Tonga, wait a while then
leave to their destination. She departed from Apia, Samoa and chose
to come to Auckland, New Zealand. The people in Auckland were
very friendly and warm welcoming to my nana and her family.
The difference between Samoa and New Zealand was that there
were more job opportunities, better housing and better pay. My Nana
did not get homesickness. My nana cannot pick between Samoa and
New Zealand to be her home because both of the countries have
treated her with respect and love. One of the obvious things that
she misses from Samoa is the food. Some of the food that they would
eat is Taro, Corned beef, luau and many more. My Nana has visited
her home country a lot of times. She is still hoping to go back again
to visit some of her family.

All our Elmer the Elephants

Today the last Elmer the Elephant was finished.
The elephants all look amazing and unique in Room 1. They have managed to climb great heights and they look wonderful together on the window sill and on the shelf in Room 1. If you are driving past Christ the King School, you will see something very colourful and elephant like on the Room 1 -Richardson Road side.

Check these out.

My Screenshot of my Comment I made on Mr Hadnett's Class Blog

This morning we have been learning about building Cyber Smart Relationships. We learnt that blog comments need to be specific, compliment the author,  have a question, have information - facts, and to be proof read and edited. Lastly we have to say who the blog comment is from.

All of our Beautiful Tapa Cloths

TAPA Cloths -Everyones from Joy Marie on Vimeo.
Last term we completed all of our Tapa Cloths. They look amazing in Room 1. If you get a chance pop in and see them up on display. The Tapa Cloths linked to our Geometry focus - reflection, rotation and translation. They also linked to measurement as we had to rule up a grid and enlarge our images from our Maths Books onto our paper. There was also a strong art focus.
