Zariah's Time on Planet Earth
( I am pretending I am from another planet)
Hi Mum and Dad,
I am having a great time on planet Earth. I have found
incredible things on this planet. The sun shines on my face,
fresh air blows through the sky and weird colours grow on
the grass. From space, the blue looks like water and the
white looks like marshmallows that are made out of small
drops of water. I’m just going to call them clouds. I dug
down and Earth is made out of, Nickel, Iron, Silicon,
Magnesium, Aluminum, Oxygen, and other minerals. When
I was studying this planet, I found out that planet Earth
was formed 4.54 million years ago. I am not the first person
to visit planet Earth. I heard a guy named Adam and a girl
named Eve visited this planet first. On other planets, they
have more than one moon but surprisingly Earth only has one
moon! Earth is not a perfect circle and it has mountains and
islands. They are called landforms. Us humans could live here
, it's perfect! They have plenty of food. Planet Earth has
plenty of fresh air that we breathe and could live on. It has
been fascinating learning about Planet Earth.

Zariah's Favourite Toy
Two weeks ago we read the picture book ANZAC Ted. It was such a great book that we
decided to write our own descriptions or poems about a teddy bear, toy or possession that
means a lot to us. Here is Zariah's description
My Favourite Teddy Bear
decided to write our own descriptions or poems about a teddy bear, toy or possession that

My Favourite Teddy Bear
I have a teddy bear named Stitch. He is blue and has super long ears.
My sister gave it to me as a present from America. He saw the wonders
of Disneyland. My sister grabbed him and talked to my mum about buying him.
My sister gave it to me as a present from America. He saw the wonders
of Disneyland. My sister grabbed him and talked to my mum about buying him.
Soon after that, he was flying in the sky. Where the clouds look like the
ground. After sixteen hours we finally made it back home to New Zealand.
He was laying down in my Mum's suitcase waiting for someone to hug him,
that was until he was given to me. I was speechless. I was absolutely shocked
and I thought my sister said she had left him in America. When I saw him, I
immediately grabbed him and said “Thank you!” to my Mum and sister. For a
while, I had lost him and couldn’t find him anywhere, yet all the time he was
under my bed for days on end. He was covered in so much dust but somehow
I was able to clean him up.

I placed him on my bunk bed as if he was on display in a carnival. I went back
to the living room where my Mum was unpacking and saw another stuffed toy.
It looked like a seal from a drawing from the internet. He was going to be
and forever be, his best friend. Soon they were going to have so many
adventures in the future. His best friend’s name was Silky. I named him
Silky because he was soft to cuddle and I could easily sleep with him.

One time, my parent's friend came over and had brought their sons
with them. The youngest son’s favourite colour was blue, even his bedroom
was blue. His older brother loved red, and they both loved their own
favourite colour. In fact, if they saw something they liked, they would
make sure it was either red or blue. The youngest son grabbed stitch and
didn't want to let go. At first, I thought it was ok for him to take him for
a while. When it was time for them to go back to Tauranga, he was about
to steal Stitch and take him home. Of course, I didn't let that happen so
I told his Mum to give it back. He denied to give it back to me. Eventually,
he gave it back. Every time he came round, he would do the same thing. I'm
sure Stitch got tired of going back and forth and for us yelling in his ears.

Poem as my conclusion:
Teddy bears are fine, but this one is mine
He is different from the rest. I think he is the best.
He is soft and cuddly, I love him very much
He is soft and cuddly, I love him very much
He is really fluffy when I give him a touch,
He wasn't my first toy, but oh boy he gives me joy,
I give him respect, and he gives me such an effect,
He is a toy that I'm not willing to forget,
He heals me up when I am upset,
I am sure he is not my regret,
There are many adventures we haven't done yet.

Sir David Attenborough is an amazing unsung hero for animals
and wildlife. As he is retired, he still appears on television
shows and makes documentaries on earth and animals.
David may have lost his wife, but at the age of 93 years old,
he continues to share his knowledge and views on protecting
nature and the environment. He is a real inspirational figure
and has made the world a better place.

Zariah's Time at MOTAT
My time at MOTAT
Introduction
My time at MOTAT, was the greatest place I have visited this year.
There was a little village, a red building, mini classroom, a mini-church, pump house, and so
many
many
other things. I was excited because it was my first time going. In my group there was Miss Wu,
Melita, Cleo, Ana, and Mikkie.
Melita, Cleo, Ana, and Mikkie.
When I put my first step into MOTAT it was like a little town in an amusement park. We went to
our meeting place and a person introduced himself to our school. His name was Kent. He was
our helper. After he introduced himself we were able to eat morning tea. I felt so excited that I
didn’t want to eat because I wanted to go into check everything out as quickly as possible.

Village
In the village, there were five mini houses but two houses we weren't able to go into. The first
house
house
was near the entryway. In it was a creepy doll in a crib, a fireplace and other things from the
olden days. The second house was connected to another place. Beside it was a long drop with
a very creepy doll inside. A long drop is an outside toilet. I thought there was nothing inside the
long drop but one of my group members freaked out when she was looking at the doll. In the
village there was a little church near a garden. The church was like all the other churches but
smaller. There were chairs, a piano, a lectern and a bible.

Inventors room
The next thing we went to was the Inventor's room. The first thing I saw were games on
little platforms. Next to it was a room that had a mural of cricketers painted on the wall. There was a human foot sculpture next to a woman's head sculpture. Beside the entry there was a rocket room with no real rocket. Then we went to a room with a bouncy trampoline and a game. The game entailed jumping on the trampoline to kill these aliens. I had to kill as many as I could within the set time. I got 29 points.
The Technology Room
The Technology room had old computers on display and it was fun to see. There were so many
telephones that I couldn’t count them all. Another thing that was there were typewriters,
old cameras, and even a selfie-machine. I wasn’t able to get a turn so I went to a different room
that had video games. There were two iPads that had a racing game called turbo on the iPads.
I was too distracted that I couldn’t see the rest of the rooms.

Scavenger hunt
A few minutes later we went back to our little meeting place to get the Scavenger Hunt
instructions from this hot pink box. We had to go to the Fire Station, the Pump house,
the school, and the village. My group instructed Miss Wu to go to the red house near the Village.
I thought the two buildings were connected but instead, there was a room full of telephones.
There was one that looked like it came from England. After finding the telephones we needed to
find hats, boots, medals, axes, ladders, headlights and way more. I was really serious about find
ing all the things from the list but I was distracted by Cleo and Ana because they were looking at
the fake horse and petting it like it was a real horse.

A few minutes later we went to a room that looked liked a small classroom. We had to find
pencils and corks, and a map. Then we had to sing the national anthem but we didn't know
that we couldn't speak Maori so we just left without anyone knowing. Then we went to the
village and went to find, dolls, beds, pots, eggs, cards, and other things. We weren't able to
go to the Pump House because we had to go back and have lunch. I was sitting with my
friends near the corner with Miss Virginia. I was having a small chit chat and then I drank
some water. Then out of nowhere I accidentally, without even thinking I poured water all over
myself. I felt so embarrassed and so mad at myself.

Tram ride
Then we went to the tram area that was outside of MOTAT. There were two olden day
trams near the entrance. When we went on the tram ride I was sitting next to Cleo, Ana, Melita.
We were playing games until the tram stopped and we saw baby pukekos. They looked so
small and fluffy. They looked like a small baby chick from the farm at my parent's friends house.
After a while, of looking at the pukekos we stopped at the same tram stop that we initially got on.
Then after we have stopped the tram driver, Rob, told us about the tram. There was a line on the
top that was connected to the tram. Rob told us information about how the tram works and
explained to us about this grate at the bottom of the tram. The grate stopped the tram from
running over a person back in the olden days. After Miss Paton took a picture of the class.
She asked that the small students were in the front and tall students were in the back.
Then we went back to MOTAT to go to see the Above and Beyond exhibition.

Above & Beyond.
First, we went to the meeting place to see if everyone was there and ready to go to
Above and Beyond. I took my super, small water bottle in my pocket just in case I got thirsty.
I definitely regretted bringing my water bottle because my friends pranked me. When I took
my first step everything looked so cool, there were so many flying related games,
and information that told us about flying. The first thing I wanted to do was this game.
The simulator game that taught us how to fly like a bird and be like a bird. It was really
fun to play. Then I saw this attraction that it would fly up then come down. Just like a rocket.
After looking for Miss Wu I found her playing a game behind a plane simulator. It looked
really cool, but also very confusing. When it was time to go, I was sad because I wanted to
stay and keep on playing at the Above and Beyond exhibition.

Educator - Experiments
When we went out of Above and Beyond we went straight to the classroom near the
Inventor’s room, but we went in a completely different direction. The room was a bit small
but big to do plenty of activities. We sat down on the floor and saw Kent. Kent told us about
how planes work, then he showed us different experiments at every station. One was how to
make small aircraft that could play in this wind machine. At the next station there was a spinning
toy that we had to try and aim at this target. The third station was with a blow dryer, ping pong
ball and a cup. The cup was just to put the ball in, but me and my friends tried to put the ping
pong ball and make it float on the blow dryer. The fourth station there was two toys and we had
to drop them both at the same time and see which one drops first and why? The fifth station,
there was a cup of water and a piece of laminate paper. We had to place the laminated paper
on top of the cup of water then but it upside down and see if the water in side the cup would
either fall into the bucket or the water would stay in side the cup. The sixth station was with
these toys. They had string with some cardboard in the middle of the string. We had to put it
near the huge fan outside of the classroom to see if the cardboard flew up or down the string.
It was common for the cardboard to fly in the middle of the string.

Conclusion
It was fun while it lasted but then we had to go. Everyone in our school met Kent in the meeting
place. I had a lot of fun at M.O.T.A.T. There were so many places I had visited and there were
so many things to do. MOTAT is probably my favourite trip I have been on so far. It was most
satisfying to see how times had changed from the 1800’s until now. Before going to MOTAT
I thought it was really small and it only had a few activities to do and look at. However when
walked through the entrance it just looked like the olden days that I thought it was really cool.
I will Differently recommend MOTAT to my family and friend. MOTAT is really like a big
aquarium looking through the glass and seeing hundred of years fishing still living on earth,
and everyone felt secure and safe because as far as I know, there was no injury at all. I am
looking forward for my brother, Valter, to come to christ the king soon to see MOTAT and enjoy
his time.
